Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Tuesday slammed Arvind Kejriwal for his announcement to initiate Satyagraha, saying the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief is given to theatrics. She advised him to ponder over the logic behind the move before going ahead with it.
Maliwal, who quit the AAP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claimed that she has been inspired and influenced by the work done for the country and its people by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Speaking to reporters at the state unit office of the BJP here, the Rajya Sabha MP made it clear that she had no compulsion over the decision she made. She said she has no compunction in joining the saffron party since she has been, for long, following the work done by the BJP government for the people. She expressed gratitude to the saffron party’s leadership.
Maliwal, who represents the national capital in the Rajya Sabha, asserted that she now will work with more vigor for the people of Delhi, and with backing of the BJP, working for the public will be more effective.
Sharpening her attack on Kejriwal and the AAP, she contended that it’s due to the habit of theatrics, not only Kejriwal but his entire party has become infamous in the country. It is known for drama, hooliganism, and irregularities.
Swati Maliwal announced her resignation from the AAP on April 24. Taking to social media, she stated that she had made a lot of personal sacrifices for walking the path of national service, be it through the RTI movement, the Anna movement, the formation of the AAP and eight-year stint in the Delhi Women’s Commission. However, she lamented that the principles, values, and resolve for honest politics with which the AAP started its journey have been abandoned by Arvind Kejriwal and, at his behest, the entire party, she alleged.
She recalled how she was brutally beaten up and treated with utmost indecency at AAP leader’s behest as his single point agenda was to protect his close aide. “Seeing the unchecked corruption in the AAP under patronage of Kejriwal, incidents of harassment, and assault on women, the promotion of thuggish elements, and the betrayal and looting happening with Punjab, I have decided to leave the party today,” Maliwal concluded.
